The 2020 China (Hainan) International Tropical Agricultural Products Winter Trade Fair concluded on Dec 22 in Haikou, with deals worth nearly 68 billion yuan ($10.4 billion) signed for tropical agricultural products.
With an exhibition area of over 100,000 square meters and 10 exhibition zones, this edition of the trade fair was the largest one yet. Over 110 enterprises from around 31 countries and regions registered for the fair, while 2,300 domestic enterprises from 21 Chinese provinces showcased their agricultural products.
According to Zhao Yingjie, deputy director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Hainan Province, 79 agricultural investment projects were signed at the fair, with 14 projects’ investment value being 100 million yuan or more.
Hainan has been vigorously promoting the construction of a transfer base for the introduction of global animal and plant germplasm resources to strengthen the innovation ability of the seed industry. The trade fair set up a modern seed industry exhibition area to focus on the latest cultivation achievements of Hainan tropical fruit seedlings, fish, and shrimp to build a display platform for industrial exchanges, added Zhao.
The fair is an important bridge to promote international agricultural exchanges and cooperation, said Wang Yeqiao, general manager of Hainan State Farms Investment Holding Group, who added that the company is currently carrying out foreign cooperation projects in poultry breeding.
During the trade fair, many important events were hosted, such as the Hainan Free Trade Port and Tropical Agriculture Summit, as well as the Boao International Summit on Beautiful Countrysides.(Source: ehainan.gov.cn )
